Building a Traceability System for Shrimp Export Compliance
A shrimp processing company preparing for EU export certification needed to demonstrate full traceability from pond to processing plant to packed product. Their existing process had no digital records — pond harvest data, processing batch numbers, and shipment documentation were all maintained separately with no linkage between them. USS BD designed and deployed a QR-based traceability system that assigned unique batch identifiers at the point of harvest and carried them through every stage of the supply chain.
Each QR code, when scanned, pulls up the complete history of that batch: which ponds it came from, water quality records from those ponds, processing date and shift, cold chain temperature logs, and export documentation. The system went live in eight weeks and was accepted by the company's EU buyer as sufficient evidence of traceability compliance. Two additional exporters have since enquired about the same solution.
